On June 23, Seed Media Group and The Council on Competitiveness convened a cadre of America’s thought leaders in science, business, and education for the State of Innovation Summit in Washington, DC. Panelists and speakers addressed the key roles of design, cross-disciplinary collaboration, comprehensive policy, and science itself in preserving and enhancing a climate of innovation and future competitiveness for America. An Online Summer of Love

In May AlwaysOn was exclusively invited to an event at Google Plex, where Carlos Santana's online global network “Architects of a New Dawn” was announced.
The Grammy Award-winning guitarist's innovation incorporates film, music, television and online social networks to create a multi-tiered media company that will, it is hoped, forge a new social reality built on inspiration, creativity, love and forgiveness.

While the project feels a bit 1967, "Architects" is relying on more than music and meditation. Online social networking and new media strategies are key to the Santana's vision.

Is YouTube Video Going Premium?

In the end of April I reported from the conference OnHollywood at Sofitel in West Hollywood.
One of the topics discussed in the panels was how to make money on Social Media, and monetize online video.
“The core challenge is to keep it premium,” said Adam Cahan, CEO of Auditude.
But Shishir Mehrotra (Director of Product Management, YouTube Monetization, Google), had a different opinion. After the discussion ended, he expanded on his thoughts as presented to the panel.

“I think the important thing is not to draw hard lines between different types of content," he said.

“Video posted on line need not be recorded in a Hollywood studio. It could be done just as well in someone's living room,” Mehrotra explained.
